This is the Old Zoo Handbook before v6.3.5 which explains all of the details on how the Zoo System used to work before the update.

New Zoo Compensation

A number of items including Amethysts, Planks, Shears, Hinges, Screwdrivers, and Duck Tape are no longer needed for the New Zoo System. As a result a Compensation Fee including Coins, Cash, Topaz Amethyst, and Rubies was rewarded to all players for removing them.

  • The compensation is mainly based on the number of Amethysts, but other materials are taken into consideration as well.

Zoo Changes: Before and After

There has been several changes in the new v6.3.5 update which majorly affect the Zoo. All of the new Zoo Changes from Before v6.3.5 and After v6.3.5 are listed below.

1. Popularity Points and Zoo Levels

Before Update 6.3.5After Update 6.3.5
Popularity Points were earned from selling goods at Zoo Shops, constructing Enclosures, and breeding Animals.

After reaching a certain amount of Popularity Points the Zoo leveled up and new higher level Enclosures, Decorations, and Zoo Shops were unlocked.
The entire Zoo Level and Popularity Points system has been removed from the game, and they are no longer needed to develop the Zoo.

Levels and points are no longer required to unlock anything at the Zoo.

The only limit to getting every new enclosure is buying them with Coins, building them with Materials and the Time to construct them.

Also unlocking new Zoo Decorations requires having a certain number of Animals rather than Zoo Levels.

2. Zoo Shops and Upgrades

Before Update 6.3.5After Update 6.3.5
There are 8 Zoo Shops available including the Snack Bar, Cafe, 4D Theater, Icecream Shop, Gift Shop, Restaurant, Petting Zoo, and Beverage Store.

Each Shop often had a unique set of goods that could be sold, although there were rare moments where 2 Shops sold the exact same good. Depending on Zoo Shop upgrades it might have been better to sell items at one Shop over the other.

Zoo Shops could be upgraded using a variety of building materials (brick, glass, and slabs), as well as 3 special Zoo materials (duct tape, hinges, and screw drivers). Breeding a certain amount of animals was also required for all Shop upgrades.

Every level unlocked new upgrades for Zoo Shops including extra Baskets (8 max), increased coins (50% max) and popularity points (50% max) earned, and decreased time (30% max) to sell goods.
All 8 Zoo Shops have been transformed into Zoo Decorations, and no longer have any function to earn coins, popularity points, zoo levels, or complete Regatta Tasks.

For all the hard work put into upgrading Zoo Shops a compensation fee is rewarded. It includes a sum of Coins and Cash depending on the upgrade levels reached for Zoo Shops.

Example Compensation:
80,500 coins + 45 Cash

Any Regatta Task involving earning popularity points, or selling zoo items has disappeared from the Task List.

There is a new Zoo task involving completing a number of the new Zoo Orders.

3. Hot Goods and Zoo Order Board

Before Update 6.3.5After Update 6.3.5
One of the main ways to earn Popularity Points was from selling Hot Goods shown on the Zoo Order Board at Zoo Shops.

Every week all the goods in Zoo Shops reset, and every day the Hot Goods changed. Each Zoo Shop had 5 items available to sell including 1 Hot Good. Hot Goods were featured with a flaming HOT label and sold for 2 times the coins and popularity points for that day.

It was always good to be on the look out for Zoo Hot Goods in the City Market, buying them from the Dealer, or from requests in a Co-op. Faster selling goods rewarded less points, but more points overtime. Goods that were slower to sell gave more points, but ended up being less points overtime.

It was a reliable way to earn Coins as well as extra rewards from Gift Boxes for selling, and earning a set amount of Popularity Points in each Zoo Shop. Gift Boxes contained building materials, Zoo materials, Gems and other useful items in them.

Completing a Zoo Regatta Task to sell items was fun, especially forgetting about it until the next day where all 15-30 minute goods were replaced with ones that take hours to sell.
Since all of the Zoo Shops are now decorations that means there are no more hot items!

It’s a little unfortunate since there’s no longer the option to sell goods at such great prices at the Zoo, but it’s a trade off for a more simplified and rewarding system.

The old system felt very tedious to have to upgrade each Zoo building, and having to sell goods around the clock. Also now that all the Zoo materials are gone, there are better chances to get valuable rewards, and even Cash from Gift Boxes.

Also the Zoo Order Board has been replaced with new Zoo Orders from Customers, Shop Keepers, and even the Animals themselves.

These new Orders require a lot of certain goods, but help requests can be made to in-game friends to assist in filling difficult orders. Also Golden Clovers are rewarded for helping fill friends Zoo Orders.

4. New Enclosures and Zoo Orders

Before Update 6.3.5After Update 6.3.5
Developing the Zoo required a lot of time and dedication to earn Popularity Points, Level Up the Zoo, and Upgrade Buildings to Construct New Enclosures.

Unlocking a new Enclosure required reaching a specific Zoo Level then buying it with Coins and constructing it using Building Materials (Bricks, Glass, Slabs, and Planks).

Gathering planks was a terrible since a large quantity was needed for Enclosures and upgrading Zoo Shops. There was never enough at any point because of their high demand, and low appearance in Gift Boxes. Even after Gift Box point limits were reduced it was still a challenge to save enough.

After finishing construction it costed gems to buy and deliver new Zoo animal to their habitat. First the 2 animal parents were delivered instantly after purchasing them with gems. The last 2 babies to complete the family had to be bred at the Nursery after using gems to start the breeding process.

Finally after gathering a whole family, a Zoo Book page would be complete and Cash would be rewarded. The amount increased with each completed animal family.
Now, all that’s required to unlock an enclosure is obtaining a full collection of cards to receive the animals.

Amethyst is no longer needed, along with the large amount of gems required for animals. It’s a blessing that planks are no longer needed for finishing enclosures as well, although the building materials required have increased.

Cards can be obtained in many different ways as free rewards, or bought directly for Cash in the new Zoo Shop.

The nursery has become a regular decoration now since animals can no longer be bred.

Lastly the Cash rewards have been slightly reduced to 10-25 Cash for each complete family in the Zoo Book.

Summary of All Zoo Changes

[1] Zoo System
• Required Zoo Levels and Popularity Points for development.

• Removed Zoo System.

[3] Zoo Shops
• Required a large quantity of Materials to upgrade each of the 8 Zoo Shops.
• Zoo Shops became Decorations.• Easier to manage the Zoo.
• Not able to sell goods to earn coins anymore. Especially for Hot Goods.*

[6] Zoo Regatta Tasks
• 1. Required earning a certain amount of Popularity Points

• 2. Required selling a certain amount of Zoo Hot Items.
• Potentially a new Zoo Task for Zoo Orders.• In theory the new Zoo Order task should be easier.• The theory was wrong and it’s actually harder because Zoo Orders aren’t that easy.

• 1 less Zoo Task which wasn’t too difficult, though they may add more later.
[7] Zoo Orders
• Feature doesn’t exist yet!
• Filling Zoo Orders of 2 Goods with possible help from friends.

• New Gift Boxes for filling Orders.
• Activity with Friends and way to earn Clovers.

• Potential for 2x or higher coin / XP orders, or rare orders, etc. with higher rewards.

• Gift Boxes can reward Cash.
• Orders can be difficult to fill, especially without a handful of friends.

• Similar to (3), the coin and XP amounts rewarded are not much vs. what’s asked of.
[8] Zoo Enclosures
• Required Coins to Buy Enclosures.

• Required Building Materials + Planks to Build Enclosures.

• Required Gems to obtain Animals.

• Overall requires a lot less Coins to Buy Enclosures.

• Requires more Building Materials, but no Planks to Build Enclosures.

• Requires Cards to obtain Animals.

• Less Coins for Buying Enclosures is great, and no more planks is worth mentioning again, and again.

• Card system can be slightly easier to earn Animals depending on luck and actively receiving rewards.

• Card system can be slightly more difficult for casual players who aren’t as actively receiving rewards to obtain cards.

• Bad luck in receiving the final epic card, or for other Animals to complete a Family.

• Possibly less Cash overall since all higher amounts were reduced to 20 Cash.
[9] Special Decorations
• Required Ingots to purchase.
• Requires Gems to purchase.• Gems are no longer used to buy animals.

• Free to decide spending gems on Boosters or Decorations.

• Potentially more Ingots to spend on upgrades at the Academy of Industry.
• Ingot use was arguably better for late game players who have already upgraded all, or the majority of their factories.

  1. How about addressing the issue with the zoo disappearing. It says I made system changes but I did not. You may have on your end that caused me to lose the zoo 7 times. I finally gave up. On top of that you now have added zoo tasks to the regatta that I lose out on AND I cannot finish getting all the zoo decorations. I wrote in and told them my zoo keeps disappearing and I wanted it replaced or give me back all the stuff I had to use to upgrade it. I got to level 10, that cost me a lot of hard earned upgrading products, if Playrix cares at all about their customers (you know, where the money comes from) you would fix this issue and replace all of our zoos to where we had them. Many players are having the same problem and the fix listed doesn’t work.

    1. Hi Susan, if you haven’t already please send this feedback to the in-game support team. You can access it with the Gear icon and contacting them using HelpShift support. They should be able to fix your Zoo soon!

      1. My zoo in Merryville has disappeared for the 8th time, I WILL NOT BUY THESE ITEMS AGAIN. My INVITE FRIENDS BOARD is no longer in existence..Please fix these issues!!!

    1. Hi Elizabeth, I’m not liking that it costs so many coins and materials either.

If you like you can send feedback to them through the in-game support.
If there are many upset players they will likely update and improve the Zoo in the future.
