Community Buildings

Information

Community Buildings are buildings that increase the Maximum Population of a players town which allows them to build more Houses.

Houses must be constructed first to increase the town’s Base Population to be able to reach the required population amounts to start building Community Buildings. As players progress and their Town Levels Up new Houses and Community Buildings are unlocked.

To complete a Community Building it requires Coins and Building Materials (Brick, Glass and Slabs). After a players Town reaches Level 60 constructing new buildings like the Planetarium requires Tools (Electric Saws, Drills, and Jackhammers) in addition to Building Materials.

Requirements

After earning enough coins to buy a Community Building from the Store (Yellow Hat Icon), the next step is to obtain the required materials.

Building materials for the community buildings are primarily delivered by train, but may also be collected from the House of Luck, purchased from the City Market and rewarded by Regattas and Events.

  • Visit the Trains page for information on finding building materials.
  • NOTE: If more than 1 community building is built at a time it may throw off the train algorithm and bring extra unwanted materials.
  • TIP: Complete the community building with the lowest amount of materials required first, then continue in that order until it’s back on track. For more information visit the Trains page here.

Tap on the Hat Icon above a Community Building to view the materials needed to finish that building. Start construction as soon as possible when enough materials are gathered in the barn. When it’s done the building will be surrounded with balloons, and can be tapped to finish the building.

Community Buildings List

Currently 73 Community Buildings are available at a Max Population of 24,355.

  • Buildings with a star (★) are animated.
  • Buildings with a drop (?) must be placed on water.
    • Including the Coastguard (#39), Hydroelectric Power Plant (#44), Lighthouse (#63), and the Shipyard (#70).
  • Pop = Population, MaxP = Max Population.
  • The Search bar can be used to find/filter text in the table, or click the up/down arrows to Sort columns.
  • Note: For landscape or a larger view rotate your device. On desktop press F11 or maximize the window.

Community Buildings List (Windows)

For the Windows version of Township and any players who haven’t updated to 6.5.0 yet, Bricks, Slabs and Glass are still used to construct buildings.

Windows should eventually get the update adding the Tool Exchange as well, so it’s recommended to finish them as soon as possible before the update to save materials.

Since there is no Tool Exchange the 5 latest buildings including the Animal Hospital (69), Shipyard (70), Computer Store (71), Pool Hall (72), and Esports Arena (73) are not available on Windows yet.

Tool Exchange

More information and images coming soon.
If anything is missing or incorrect, please leave a comment below.

The Tool Exchange is a new Special Building which replaced the Mint after Township update 6.5.0.

It is unlocked at level 60 with 7,100 population and costs 12,000 coins to construct.

Ernie runs the Tool Exchange where players can trade in Glass, Bricks, and Slabs for tools to complete the construction of new community buildings.

There are 3 New Tools including Power Drills, Jackhammers, and Electric Saws which can only be obtained from the Tool Bins in the Tool Exchange.

There are 3 tool bins in total and 1 is available for Free after completing the Tool Exchange. The second bin can be purchased for 8,000 coins and the last bin for 15,000 coins.

It’s recommended to buy both bins for 23,000 coins as soon as possible to begin dumping them for specific tools required.

Refreshing Offers

Players have the option to dump any of the 3 tools bin offers for new ones by pressing the blue trash button.

After materials are traded in, or tool bins are dumped it takes 1 hour for a fresh set of tools to arrive.

Up to 6 Cash can be used to instantly refresh a new offer, but since it’s random it’s better to wait and dump any unwanted tools.

Exchanges vary from 1 type of material for 1 tool, to all 3 materials for up to 3 different tools.

Depending on what’s needed to finish the next community building it’s better to save the materials needed, and only exchange other materials for the tools that are required.

New Tools Required

The community buildings that now require tools are listed in the table below:

BuildingsBuildings (Continued)
1 • Planetarium (#57)
2 • Flower Shop (#58)
3 • Horse Track (#59)
4 • Music Venue (#60)
5 • Car Wash (#61)
6 • Dolphinarium (#62)
7 • Lighthouse (#63)
8 • Skyscraper (#64)
9 • Bike Rental (#65)
10 • Kindergarten (#66)
11 • Canine Center (#67)
12 • Bank (#68)
13 • Animal Hospital (#69)
14 • Etc… (See List Above)

Higher Material Costs

  • (?) means the information is not confirmed and/or is an estimate.

Before the 6.5.0 update it required less materials to complete high level community buildings. The amount of new tools required is lower, but the materials used in exchange to acquire them is significantly higher.

It can cost between 6 to 9 (?) materials for a single tool, so for example 25 drills actually means around 150-225 materials are needed in total for the exchange.

Example: Kindergarten (#66) Aftermath

Below is a before and after comparison of the material costs for the Kindergarten (#66).

  • Before: 92 Glass, 91 Bricks, and 92 Slabs = 275 Materials
  • After: 83 Slabs
    • +24 Electric Saws (Multiplied by x6 and x9) (144-216 Materials)
    • +27 Jackhammers (Multiplied by x6 and x9) (162-243 Materials)
    • = 134 Materials. Actual Materials Required = 389-542 Materials
  • Difference 1: 542-275 = 114 Materials
  • Difference 2: 542-275 = 267 Materials

In conclusion the cost to construct the Kindergarten and other high level community buildings is about 114-267 Materials more than what it used to be before the existence of the Tool Exchange.

The main advantage of it is that since there are less of the new tools required there’s more room in the Barn for goods, etc. Also there will likely be future updates including upgradable decorations, or new content that may require them as well.

    1. Yes, the game continues to add new building. However the latest one in Aug 2023 is ridiculously expensive. Over 1 million coins? The last one cost only less than 400k.

  24. Now that I have finished all the buildings, housing and I only have one factory left, I should be able to get rid of all of my tools, right?

    1. There is still the Zoo, and some Upgradeable Decorations which use building materials if you want to complete that as well. If you finished all the community buildings and houses then you could save up some for the next building they release in a future update.

  25. Any idea if any new community buildings are coming? I have a healthy cache of tools that I hate to start deleting for barn space but I don’t want to save them if nothings coming. Thanks!

    1. Hi Jennifer, I don’t think they’ll be adding any new ones for now. Maybe 1-2 before the end of this year.
They will show them in sneak previews on Facebook if they are coming up.

For the materials there seems to be a +6 increasing pattern it follows: of Bricks > Glass > Slabs.
So I’d guess the next building will be 131 glass.

There’s also a pattern for tools. One previous tool is always used along with possibly 1 random tool.
So for sure it will use either Drills or Jackhammers, and one other tool.

    2. I am in the same boat. I have finished all of my zoo buildings and community buildings and I have 1000 items of materials in my barn. Did you get get a response?

  26. No, not accurate. I worked hard for the 95 glass, 32 drills, and 27 saws for the Canine Center. Now that it’s finally “ready,” it actually needs 90 Bricks, 30 Drills, and 25 Jackhammers. Ugh!

    1. Just finished canine building myself. Wished I had scrolled down to comments to see that it used bricks instead off glass. It has been over 5 months and they have not corrected it yet.

  27. There is no Train page. The link a the top of the page gives a page not found error. Please remove the link or add the page.

  28. INCORRECT! I PREPARED THE MATERIALS YET IT IS NOT THE RIGHT ONE! CANINE CENTER IS 90 BRICKS / 30 DRILLS / 25 JACKHAMMER!

  29. I believe the material requirements for Canine Center and Bank are incorrect. For example, you have 95 glass/32 drills/27 saws listed for Canine Center. According to Playrix Forums, these are the requirements for Bank. Canine Center should be 90 brick/30 drills/25 jackhammers.

Also you have the same materials requirements listed for Bank and Animal Hospital. I believe these are the requirements for Animal Hospital, and Bank requirements are what is listed for Canine Center.

  30. Gee…it takes forever to build the community building .this really gets boring if something takes tooo long. tool exchange rubbish. is there any way to rollback to prev updates. M bored .

  31. Gee, time to update this. The tool exchange was a horrible idea. We need all those materials and now we have to give them up for hand tools?! Gee, brillant. Now it takes twice as long to build anything. You need those materials for the zoo now too.
Now we need a list of how many hand tools we need for each building. This list is VOID.

    1. Yeah, it does cost quite a lot more materials to construct buildings now. I’m hoping they have something else planned to balance things out. I’ve added all of the up to date information on Tools, the Tool Exchange, and the new and old requirements. *removes VOID label*

    2. In the Tool Exchange- New Tools Required Table did #59 mean that the building is unlocked at Level 59

      1. To clarify: The first column is the # number column which simply represents the order of the community buildings from 1 to 69.

The third column is the required levels for community buildings.

  32. This list is now out of date. No Animal Hospital. No Tool Exchange. No way to know what else I may need to collect since I’m done with the animal hospital.

Zoo enclosures still cost too much in materials,a Nd quite frankly, no one on our team cares about the zoo and finds it to expensive to work on while trying to race. Zoo tasks take way to long and ask for way too many supples. Who has time to make 9 rolls of rubber when it’s needed for so many things?

    1. Although I agree, township came out with a useless commodity, the tool shed should help with all buildings or it’s not much help at all. I have been doing the zoo, but it’s hard to come up with 9 of something that takes forever to grow and inevitably gets requested either by the train or regatta. With the hundreds of things to be made or collected, why you have to choose between the regatta or your train or zoo for the same items is very unfair especially since it’s not a once in a while occurence.

    2. Apologies for the late reply, but it’s up to date now along with the new Animal Hospital and Tool Exchange information. I’d highly recommend spending the most Cash on new Market Boxes or the next best thing in hiring the dealer to solve the shortage of any goods.
